The Lay of Alyintitton and Valareinhildë

The lay of Alyintitton and Valareinhildë.

Dedicated to that 1st little girl I fell in love with and will never forget.

Elbereth, oh Elemmíre,
my hope and my despair.
Long ago you rescued,
me you raised me to the air.
Deep and dark my life had been,
bereft of woman's care!
Until I heard you call to me,
like sunshine through the air.

Conflict it stirred deep in my soul,
a son of Surak's line.
To love was not to be for me,
even if that love were thine.
For years I hid my self from you,
what torture I endured.
None should know my hidden truth,
the secret that I hid.

No Vulcan hart did beat in me,
it was a man's instead.
Long ago I laid it down,
I thought that it was dead.
But deep in side it called to you,
with wonder and with dread.
Then at last I set it free,
to search for you my love.

I saw your face,
it felt like heady wine.
To me you were a goddess,
much more then human kind.
Like Lúthien Tinúviel,
you seemed to me divine.
In beauty you were a kin to her,
who Beren's hart did stir.

But woe was me because you see,
my heart it could not sing.
My voice was mute my heart cried out,
but I never said a thing.
Alone at last the darkness fell,
Surrounding me with dread.
My tears came not, my hope was gone,
with you beyond my sight.

My prays flew up to Valinor,
to bring you home to me.
To make things right,
complete us both.
Destiny was sure to me,
someday you’d be my bride.
Iluvátar the god of all,
had made us for this doom.

For years and years I searched for you,
and then near by you were.
My heart was broke your smile was gone,
The sun it seem quite dead.
I tried my best to speak to you,
so lost in side my dread.
Not a word did come from me,
I turned and you were gone.

Alone at last I called to you,
perhaps you did not hear.
Not a word did come from you,
and so my doom was near.
With hope all gone and pain here,
I tried to bring an end.
My quest was done my life bereft,
Valareinhildë was so far!

I turned my mind away from you,
to try and live once more.
I stood erect upon my feet,
and finally closed the door.
At last I found another face,
Like yours I could adore.
A woman's heart would sing to me,
I found once more the air.

But Melkor came and Golum too,
to eat my lady fair.
Though long and hard we fought with them,
We only found despair.
A final stand I made for her,
but hopeless was that hour.
Bereft of life she was gone,
they took her from my side.

But low I looked and saw you near,
a vision to rejoice.
Your ship seemed strong your power true,
and me with out a voice.
I looked again,
and low I found a mate there by your side.
Your children sang but none were mine,
your life it seemed quite whole.

At least with out a place for me,
and now I just grow old.
Alone again no,
hope I find of Valareinhildë to hold.
Again I searched for someone new,
to fill my aching void.
None now know what fate will bring,
hope or deep despair.

But you should know,
Valareinhildë.
My love you will always be,
even if we do not meet again till we are a crossed the sea.
