This book is a memoir. It is the story of my wife and of me, and of what it was like to love someone who struggled with drug addiction. It is not a story of recovery or redemption, and it does not offer answers. It exists because silence helps no one, and because understanding requires seeing what actually happens, not the version we wish were true.

The emotions, conclusions, and opinions expressed here are my own. They reflect grief, confusion, anger, love, and helplessness as much as reflection. They are not prescriptions or recommendations, but an honest record of what it was like to live through these events.

This story is told because silence helps no one.
