Weekly Update 04/11/26 – 04/18/26 (hearing aids
adjustment progress, FACTS credit card demo, rebuilding music library)
This week’s update covers a mix of personal
reflection, progress at work, adjustments to my hearing aids, and some ongoing
cleanup of my music library. As part of my ongoing Weekly Update series, I try
to document both what’s happening and how things are evolving over time.
Well, I’ve been in shock for a couple of days.
This started when I realized that Thursday was the 19th anniversary of Linda’s
passing. How that is possible, I have no idea. Those 19 years have flown by.

Things at work are going well. I have been working
on getting eBiz data to post into FACTS for payments. I have also been
preparing for a demo of the current way FACTS processes credit card payments.
Since I now have access to Astra ChatGPT at work, I feed it all the FACTS
manuals. I laid out how I’d like to present the data: start with the normal
credit card processing lifecycle and how FACTS deals with each step, then
demonstrate how each step happens in FACTS.
From there, I used PowerPoint to develop slides
for the demonstration, and finally worked with Astra to create a document that
not only listed each of my PowerPoint slides but also indicated where in the
FACTS manuals more information could be found.
Friday, I presented the information to the User
Interface and User Experience team. I think it went well.
I did get word at work that I may be going to
California in May to meet my team.
I think I’m doing well adjusting to my hearing
aids. I’m finally starting to notice some improvement, not only in what I hear
but also in how I speak. I’m just quieter now because I can hear myself better.
I’ve also been enjoying the Wi-Fi connectivity
they offer. I’m listening to more music now. I was disappointed to find that
much of my music was missing from my new iPhone. Fortunately, I was able to
locate all of it on my laptop and resync it to my iTunes account. Then I found
that my playlists were missing and I had to rebuild them. I used the post I
made a few months ago about my workout playlist to rebuild that.

And I have been working to rebuild the others in
my spare time. I have the “Pick Me Up” playlist rebuilt, it has 313 songs and
takes 19 hours to play. I listen to it shuffled.
Next, I’ll work on the songs that give me energy.
This week I finally decided to go dark. I find
that there is less eye strain if I look at a dark background, so I’ve turned as
many backgrounds on my computer dark as I can.
Next week I get a root canal and meet my new PCP.
Have a great week.
