How I’m Using AI to Supercharge My Job Search — and How You Can Too
How I’m Using ChatGPT to Find Remote Sage 100 / PVXplus Work
For a long time, I was searching for remote work the traditional way — scrolling job boards, sending out applications, and waiting. But despite more than 20 years of experience working with Sage 100 and ProvideX (PVXplus) — building and supporting business applications, developing data tools, and solving real-world problems — I wasn’t seeing much success.
Then I tried something different: I started using ChatGPT as part of my search.
Step 1: Automating job searches
The first way I used ChatGPT was simple but powerful — I asked it to scan job boards regularly for new Sage 100 and ProvideX positions. That alone changed the game. Within weeks, I found several opportunities I had missed before, including one that led to a job interview.
But as helpful as that was, I realized something important: many of the companies that could use my skills might never post a job online. If I wanted to expand my chances, I needed to go beyond job boards and start identifying companies directly.
Step 2: Building a targeted outreach list
I turned back to ChatGPT with a new mission: help me find companies across the U.S. and Canada that work with Sage 100, ProvideX, or related systems — even if they weren’t hiring.
Together, we built a master outreach list that included:
- Sage 100 VARs and resellers
- Infor FACTS distribution partners
- ProvideX / PVXplus development shops
We organized them by specialization, added key details like websites and locations, and even enriched the list with contact information. For companies that didn’t list email addresses publicly, ChatGPT helped me dig deeper — including using WHOIS lookups to uncover domain registration contacts when needed.
The result was something I could never have built by hand in the same amount of time: a focused, actionable list of organizations that might benefit from my skills — even if they’re not advertising that need.
Prompts to get started yourself
If you want to try this approach, here are a few prompts I used:
🧠Find companies
“Find companies in the U.S. and Canada that develop or support Sage 100 ERP, ProvideX (PVXplus), or Infor FACTS systems. Include company name, website, location, and services.”
📧 Enrich with contact info
“For each company on this list, find a hiring contact email and a general contact email. If none are listed, check the domain’s WHOIS record.”
🗂️ Organize the data
“Group these companies by specialization (Sage, FACTS, PxPlus, or multiple) and sort them in that order.”
From there, you can refine and expand your list, keep track of outreach, and open doors that job boards alone won’t show you.
Why this approach matters
This strategy completely changed the way I search for work. Instead of waiting for opportunities, I’m identifying them. Instead of hoping a job gets posted, I’m reaching out to the companies that could benefit from what I do.
📬 Get in touch
If your organization works with Sage 100 or ProvideX (PVXplus) and needs someone who understands these systems inside and out — building, supporting, and enhancing them — I’d love to connect. I’m seeking fully remote opportunities in development, support, QA, data validation, or related areas.
