Weekly Report 11/16/2025 - 11/22/2025

My Weekly Report

This week I made a decision: I’m no longer “unemployed.”

Instead, I’m officially creating my own company — Odell S Hathaway III Consultancy.

I’ll still be applying for full-time roles. Still, I’m also opening the door to contract and hourly work where I can bring my unique skill set to the table: PxPlus (Providex), the various Business Basic families (UniBasic, BBx, B32, …), and more than 20 years of experience in software development, data validation, debugging, and technical support. It feels good to finally put a name to the work I’ve been doing for so long.

Job Front

I’m happy to say I have an interview on Monday for a position working with Infor FACTS, an ERP system I’ve supported in the past. It’s built on Providex, so this might be a very natural fit for me. I’ve got my fingers crossed (which makes typing a little bit more challenging).

I also heard back from the London opportunity. They were going to be having a meeting with the client on Friday, and I’m hoping for an update soon. No pressure, just staying open to whatever comes next.

In the meantime, I’ve been steadily reaching out to companies — more than 150 so far — that might have openings for someone with my background.

 Personal Admin

Just in case it becomes necessary for travel, I’ve submitted the paperwork for a new passport and now I’m waiting for it to arrive. As always, these things take a few weeks, so it’s one more item in the “processing” column.

Side Income / Gig Platforms

To help bring in a little extra income, I optimized several of my existing profiles and signed up for new research and testing platforms, including:

  • UserInterviews
  • Userlytics
  • uTest
  • TestBirds
  • Respondent
  • Prolific
  • UserTesting
  • TestingTime
  • Hotjar Engage

I’m hoping to pick up some small gigs and keep the momentum going while the job search continues.

A Sad Moment on the Trail

One hard moment this week was during a walk on a trail that starts behind my house. I’ve used that trail for over 30 years and always believed there was an easement there. But a woman approached me and explained she owns the land and that I don’t have the right to walk on it.

That really saddened me. It’s a place I’ve always enjoyed, but since it’s her property, I’ll have to respect that and let it go. Still — it wasn’t easy to hear.

Looking Ahead

Overall, I’m hopeful that next week will finally bring a real change in my employment status — whether through the interview, the London role, consulting work, or one of the many outreach efforts I’ve put in motion.

Wish me luck.
